CHELSEA RESIDENCE

Inspired by the original architectural details of London Terrace, this gut renovation project combines two apartments, redefining pre-war aesthetics for modern living. A former studio apartment is transformed into a primary bedroom suite, seamlessly integrated with the rest of the apartment, which includes a kitchen, living and dining areas, as well as a secondary bedroom and bathroom. In terms of finishes, the apartment features a deliberate contrast of black and white materials to highlight their beauty.  The primary bathroom has a custom floor design created with black and white penny tiles, complemented by timeless white subway tiles with black trims. A walnut and marble vanity, chrome fixtures and accessories, along with fluted glass doors for the shower and toilet area, evoke the refined elegance of the pre-war era.

The primary bedroom showcases custom millwork thoughtfully designed to meet the client's needs, incorporating a walk-in closet, window bench, bookcase, and built-in bed storage. Each element is meticulously detailed to enhance both functionality and style. The kitchen layout is reconfigured to provide addition storage solutions and improve workflow. Bespoke millwork features an appliance garage, keeping countertops clutter-free. The focal point of the kitchen is the striking Nero Marquina marble island and countertops, with bold white veining against a deep black backdrop, and dramatic waterfall edges. The adjacent white cabinets, with flush-panel doors set within a flush frame, are elegantly accented by oil-rubbed bronze hardware. Throughout the apartment, dark walnut hardwood flooring adds warmth and richness. Oil-rubbed bronze rotary dial and toggle light switches evoke old-world charm, honoring the space's pre-war heritage while blending seamlessly with a modern, timeless design.
